Yesterday I was talking to a dear friend whose husband was killed in an accident about 2.5 years ago. We were discussing how hard it is to part with things they bought or used. It is hard to let go! If you haven’t experienced the loss of someone you deeply loved you probably won’t understand that.
Philippians 4:5-7 says: “ the Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with THANKSGIVING , present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. In the midst of the hard we are called to pray, to surrender our requests to God and to be thankful. If we focus on our circumstances and not God. We will not feel His peace. Regardless of how bleak our situation may look when we fix our eyes on Jesus we have His blessed assurance that all will be well. Gratitude should be reflected in our lives. When we give him our pain He gives us His peace.
My heart and my friend’s heart may ache from our losses, but we are still able to be thankful. Daily God has provided what I need. I am blessed and every day is a gift from God. I am thankful for the assurance that Jesus loves me and one day I will live with Him for all eternity.
What are you thankful for today?
This is so true. Even in the losses there are signs of God’s power and presence. He walks with us. We can either go through the valley with him or without him. I’d rather walk it with him every time.
Thankful I have less pain. Thank God I still have th energy to keep moving, because that helps me have less pain.
